What I Can Treat
Back pain

Back pain affects up to 80% of us at some point in our lives.

The NHS spends more than £1 billion per year on back pain related costs but even more is lost through workplace absence caused by excessive aches and pains.

Your spine is made of solid, bony blocks reinforced by strong ligaments and muscles.

It is surprisingly difficult to damage the spine but if strained, the surrounding muscles and ligaments can cause discomfort and pain.

Neck pain

The knee joint is the largest joint in the body and being a hinge joint is vulnerable to injury. The medial and collateral ligaments, meniscus, hamstrings and quadriceps have a close relation to the joint . The patella (kneecap) sails on a fluid called synovial fluid and sits in a groove called the trochlea which gives it stability .

Any traumatic dis articulation can disrupt the harmony of action of these structures on the joint.

Zafar Iqbal has extensive experience in treating different disorders from osteoarthritis to a sprain. For a consultation or a screening call or text Zafar on 07760 624089.

The Shoulder joint is a ball and socket joint between the scapula and humerus. It is the most mobile joint in the body and sacrifices mobility for stability. The most common type of arthritis in this joint is called Osteoarthritis and this causes chronic dull pain or intermittent flare-ups of intense pain that interrupt sleep. A grating noise with a ratchet type movement is indicative of joint dysfunction and chiropractic consultation is required to diagnose the root cause. Sometimes these problems arise from a rotator cuff tear or a separation of the acromioclavicular joint. Trapped nerves in the neck or shoulder can cause pain such as the long thoracic nerve.

Zafar Iqbal has been able to help many sufferers with these conditions.

Neck pain

Neck pain is common in people of all ages. There can be a variety of reasons for this discomfort.

Working all day bent over a computer, driving long distances, poor posture while standing or sitting, stress and tiredness are all factors that can cause the muscles in the neck and upper back to become tight and the joints to become stiff, which can contribute to ongoing neck pain.

Sometimes a nerve in your neck can become irritated and cause pain in the arm going down into your shoulder or the hand, and may be accompanied by pins and needles and numbness. Some headaches can be the result of tension or stiffness in the neck and upper back.

Natural age-related wear and tear (osteoarthritis), does not necessarily lead to neck discomfort, however coupled with other factors, it can lead to muscular pain from the neck into the shoulder as well as some stiffness in moving the neck.

Sports Injuries

Sports Injuries can cause areas of tight muscle bundles. This can lead to reduced muscular explosiveness and reduce optimal function.

Zafar Iqbal uses a technique called proprioreceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) to reset the muscle sensory receptors called golgi tendon organs and muscle spindles to increase deep muscle flexibility.

Once the spine has been adjusted with chiropractic treatment and the muscles are stretched, athletic performance is enhanced. Many sports people have been helped and their careers saved through chiropractic.
